FROM THE STUDIO OF CYNTHIA GRAFTON-HOLT
For more than three decades I have worked within the discipline of couture craftsmanship, specialising in the structural complexities of bridal garments and the quiet architecture that allows a gown to truly perform on the body.
Many brides arrive at the studio after searching widely for a dress that feels right but not yet complete. Often the challenge is not the outward appearance of the garment, but what lies beneath the surface - the internal structure that determines how the gown moves, balances, and supports the wearer throughout the day.
The work of a couture atelier is to resolve these unseen details with care and intelligence, allowing the final design to appear effortless.
At Cynthia Grafton-Holt Couture, each gown is created through a considered process that combines traditional couture techniques with thoughtful modern design.
Structural Expertise
AT THE HEART OF EVERY GOWN.
Within couture practice, the internal architecture of a gown determines how confidently it performs on the body.
Corsetry balance, seam tension, weight distribution, and support structures all contribute to how the garment interacts with the body. When these elements are resolved correctly, the bride experiences ease and confidence rather than restriction.
Over many years the studio has refined its expertise in garments requiring complex structural sensitivity - whether through bespoke design or the reconstruction of couture pieces.
This approach allows each gown to move naturally with the wearer while maintaining its intended silhouette.

Selected Work From The Studio
Over the years the atelier has undertaken a wide range of bespoke commissions, from contemporary bridal designs to the reconstruction of historic garments.
Heirloom & Restoration
Many brides bring garments to the studio that carry deep personal history.
Restoring a family gown requires both technical knowledge and respect for the original craftsmanship. Through careful reconstruction and structural refinement, heirloom pieces can be preserved while allowing them to be worn again with confidence.

The process begins with a private consultation at the London studio, where ideas, inspirations, and personal preferences are discussed.
Rather than beginning with fixed templates, the conversation focuses on understanding the bride’s aesthetic, proportions, and the atmosphere of the wedding itself.
This early dialogue often shapes the direction of the design.
The result is a gown that feels entirely personal.
